To-Do Update

Not to long ago I posted a list of things I needed to get done, the post is right below this one. Though it felt like a lot, it was really more of a mental strain to think about. However, I completed most of it already and in one day. I am so thankful Christmas is over and I cannot wait for the new year! I don't have enough time to inform you on my goals for 2012 or what I got for Christmas and my birthday but you should definitely look forward to those posts very soon. I will show you my almost complete to-do list though!

1. Finish Christmas shopping
2. Get eye brows waxed
3. Get car detailed
4. Organize and put away record collection
5. Put belongings on eBay (example: purse, comics, and Tarmac)
6. Hang mirrors and pictures

Getting my car detailed is going to run me a pretty bill so I'm trying to put it off until I can afford it. However, my eBay dilemma is worse, I don't even know how to use it which sounds absolutely ridiculous and I know it. But, I don't want to put stuff on there not knowing what I'm doing and lose all my money. Because that would be tragic. So until I can find someone who knows what they're doing that will do it for me, I'll just wait.

I hope everyone had/has a Happy Holiday!

After actually sitting down and trying to write out a to do list I realize I really don't have as much shit to do as I thought. Lately I've been stressed over all the things I need to get done thinking that the list was a mile long when in all actuality it's really only a few minor things that can be completed in a day or two. That makes me feel a lot better. Thank you baby Jesus.

TLC's Geek Love. It's just too good! The fact that nerdy speed dating exists is amazing and I love it.

I really need to get better

at this whole blogging thing. One of my goals for 2012 will be to post at least once a day. Maybe one photo a day or something of the sort. That could be exciting. However, until then I'm going to stress until December is over.

Truth

I am a workaholic.

I am constantly fighting to find the balance between work and play. Constantly trying to find where the scale meets even on selfless and selfish. I find more than ever that I pick up more shifts and open my schedule to more appointments so that I can constantly wish for a day off, for a vacation I can afford, or for a day I'm debt free. However I find that I continue to accumulate debt. I put one more item on my credit card, I buy a motorcycle, or I pay the minimum. I never take the time to put that extra 5 dollars into my savings account or double my payment in one month. I do feel like I don't give myself enough credit though. I always manage to have money for my bills, I always pay them on time, and I have no trouble telling myself "I can't afford this.", which ultimately makes me feel somewhat responsible for my actions and in some aspects I feel like an adult. But, I anticipate the day when I can start a retirement fund and relax because I won't have to worry about money again.

Someday...

Winning Attitude

This past weekend was my league, the Arizona Derby Dames, season opener. It was amazing to watch my sister skate in her very first game as a Runaway Bride. Especially when the Brides put her in the last jam of the game and it ended up being a power jam in which she scored 10 points! What a feat! I was so excited I could hardly contain myself. For those of you that don't know what a power jam is, it is when one jammer sits in the penalty box eliminating her team's opportunity to score points during that jam. During this time the team without the jammer makes it their goal to keep the pack fast so the jammer has less of an opportunity to score since it's harder to catch up. Though this can happen, the team with the jammer makes it their goal to keep one of the opposing players behind them therefore capturing control of the pack. All the possibilities! So much to do!

Anyway, next month on January 21st it's my team, the Schoolyard Scrappers, first game of the season. I cannot wait. These past couple of months have been really good for our team. We're finally working together and understanding when to act and what type of strategy to use. I have a good feeling about this season since we spent last season in last place. The Scrappers finally feel like a team again and there's nothing more comforting about that.

Reassurance

Today I moved most of my belongings back to my parents house. With how exhausted I've been with life lately I couldn't handle the suitcase life anymore. I need to be around the things that keep me sane, example: my books, my records, and my blanket. However, after moving all my stuff in, I don't know how I managed to fit everything in here before. My room is TINY! After realizing this it just reassured me that my goal of owning a home is my most important. There is nothing I want more than to have all of my belonging spread out in many places for everyone to see. My amazing book and record collection, my artwork, the little trinkets I've collected for years, everything that defines me. How exciting is that? I love it. Now if only I could win the lottery and speed up the process so I could just move in now.

I wish!

December: Quit Smoking

So since I failed my November goal miserably due to so much going on I've set an even higher goal for the month of December and altered my November. November was supposed to be about attending more practices and boot camps. Due to Groupon being absolutely ridiculous on how to redeem what you purchase I basically gave up on it. I attending all my mandatory practices and only one optional. Sad. I know. But I have a good excuse, if you even think excuses exist that is, I got a new job! Yay! I know. I recently started working at Precision Muscle Recovery in my field of Massage Therapy. I am so excited. I haven't officially had a massage job since I graduated last December due to the fact that I was unwilling to settle with just a spa job. However I was working as an Out-Call Therapist with a couple clients of mine. I've been working non stop between PMR, Boulders, and Derby so I haven't a lot of free time. However, getting this new job encouraged my want to quit smoking. I haven't officially bought a pack in a month and today is the official day of quitting! Yes! Go me!

So the goal of December is to not smoke at all. I haven't had one in days to begin with but this is my date of never again so here goes nothing!

Nerd Alert!

While walking into Starbucks for my most favorite peppermint hot chocolate I informed Tom that he wouldn't be buying me the box set of Harry Potter for Christmas because my mother so kindly informed me that she already got it for me. However this lead to a very awesome nerd out.

Tom: I think I've skipped a few [movies].
Me: Oh ho! Just wait, there's going to be a whole lot of HP going on after Christmas!

I am so excited! There is nothing I love more than Harry Potter and nothing I want more than a trip to The Wizarding World in Florida!

Some day!

Scrimmage Love

Last night was the first scrimmage of the off season, so for many of us we haven't been able to play another team since September. Thursday scrimmages were reserved in the month of October for the girls mixed up to play our demo bout at the coliseum on October 30th. The bout was called Clowns vs. Mimes, you can check out photos of this bout by one of my favorite photographers for our league Richard Kimbrough here. If you feel inclined go through some of his other bout footage, you might find a few photos of myself, I go by Ferris Bruizer! The Clowns vs. Mimes game was my little sister's first official bout. It was extremely exciting sitting in the crowd cheering her on like I know she's done the last year and a half for me.

Anyway, back to last night's scrimmage. It was AMAZING! I can't tell you enough how nice it was to implement all the new techniques we've been going over the last couple months at our team practices. How amazing it was to have our new girls, the rookies, skating with our vets in unison. I cannot wait until our season starts! We finally released our season 7 schedule and it's looking good! Unfortunately my team, the Schoolyard Scrappers, don't play until January but who cares! I just can't wait to skate!

The game I'm most looking forward to is February when we play the Bombshells. This game is important because it will be the first game my brother gets to attend a bout since I've been skating. He lives in Indiana so I only get to see him a couple times a year. However January is exciting because it's our first game and we're skating against the Brutal Beauties. March is the first time my sister, who is a Runaway Bride, and I will skate against each other. This leaves April when we skate against the Coffin Draggers who are currently 2 time champions, we spent season 5 undefeated to lose the championship to the Draggers. Season 6 we spent in last place. Season 7 is where we make a statement and come back. I'm not looking to be on top, I'm looking to be remembered. I guess this season is just going to be awesome overall! I can't wait!

11.08.2011

Official Goal of 2012:

Pay off a large sum of my debt so I can start looking for a home. Mainly my two credit cards, signature loan, and my car. These make up about 30%-40% of my debt. All that is left to pay off after these are my motorcycle and school loans. I say it's possible.

I currently live with my boyfriend at a home our friends own. However he has 90% of the room where I live out of a suitcase at the end of our bed. To be completely honest, I'm over it. 75% of my belongings are still at my parents. On many occasions I have to drive out to their house for one item because it's not worth buying a new item. Ultimately this leads to me being envious of our roommates who own the house. Everything they own is in one place. How awesome is that? I want it. I need it. I will have it. So here's to being responsible, paying off my debt, and growing up.

Cheers!

Bargain Shopping

Lately I've been doing a lot of shopping. Luckily I haven't spent much money which is nice when living in my financial status. The things I've found myself buying the most lately are tights. It's finally starting to be nice out and since it's now "Fall" all the good colors are being released as well. Target is always a good place to pick up tights, they aren't the cheapest but they work. Not to mention they have the best socks! I can't wait till they release their over the knee stuff. Being in derby you can't have enough tights or socks. Last Chance is the best for tights when you can find them. 97 cents for a pair of 15 plus dollar tights is always a win. I've picked up quite a few there, though lately they've been hard to find. I did however find Chinese Laundry boots I wanted last year for 30 bucks when they used to be 120 (I've mentioned these in a previous post). Not to mention they are in amazing condition. I also found a pair of Jeffery Campbell shoes I've been drooling over for the last month and a half for 40 bucks when they're 160 online. Amazing right? They need a little polish but saving 120 bucks is totally worth it.

I haven't bought much for clothes beside 2 striped skirts for 5 bucks a piece and 2 tube tops for 2 bucks a piece. The only other clothing I've bought are plain black shirts for work.

Happy Shopping! Black Friday is just around the corner!

November: Boot Camp

It's officially November which brings on fitness round 2. Last month with basic cleansing, this month is about getting to work. Back a few months ago I purchased a Groupon for 30 classes of boot camp at multiple locations with a girlfriend of mine. I originally wanted to start working out in October but due to schedule conflicts we changed to November instead.

My goal for this month is to attend at least 2 boot camp classes a week along with at least 3 practices a week.

Boot camp is held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Practices on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I have 2 mandatory practices a week and 2 optional. Sunday's and Wednesday's are league practices while Monday is Schoolyard Scrappers practice (my team) and Thursday's are scrimmage days for all the teams included in the Arizona Derby Dames league.

Ultimately I'd like to lose a few lbs since I've gained a good 5-10 in our off season these last few months. I used to skate 6 days a week and I definitely miss it so here's to being productive and getting back on track!

October: Pre Fitness

I know this is obviously a month late but I figured it needed to be shared anyway.

I spent October getting ready to get fit. I know this sounds funny. How does one spend time getting "ready" to work out. I spent my time quitting fast food and soda which I've mentioned in my previous post Fast Food No-No. Overall it was a pretty easy task. I cheated a few times but that's pretty average. 2 fast food trips in one month and only a handful of sodas.

Overall goal; accomplished.

Lazy Daze

I was going to spend today blogging but instead I caught up on all the cable tv I could soak up while sitting at my parent's house.

My favorites lately:

American Horror Story
Sons of Anarchy
The Walking Dead
Modern Family
Glee
New Girl
Raising Hope
Grey's Anatomy

I also watch a lot of Netflix which treats me very well, they have all 7 seasons of The Trailer Park Boys! Now that's a win.

I'll spend tomorrow getting to work. I promise!

Bargain Shopping

I've learned over time to only buy things that I absolutely HAVE to have. I tend to pick items up at a store, walk around with the item, then return the item to where I found it due to my conscience telling me I don't need it. Which in most cases I really don't. However, I went to a place called Last Chance in Scottsdale this weekend and found the most amazing skirt that I just wouldn't put back. I feel like I should mention how much of a hell hole this place is though. Rude employees, security guards all over the place, and nothing but crazy people. While waiting for the staff to restock the purses that I was browsing before they cleared the section, the security guard took the time to inform us that there will be no running and absolutely no fighting. Seriously? Fighting over a purse? That is absolutely ridiculous. Last Chance is like the apocalypse and everyone is trying to loot the place but instead of people trying to survive it's people fighting over designer purses and shoes. The advice I would give is, take a friend, as if in a heist, they are your eyes and ears when you aren't aware. Anyway, I found boots that I wanted last year for Christmas but never got due to them selling out and a pair of tights (which I can never have enough of). My overall spending was under 40 dollars. The boots alone were priced at over 120 dollars last year. Total win I'd say!

Fast Food No-No

Back on the first of this month I gave up fast food and soda. I figured it was for the better since I was severely addicted to Coca cola and was eating my way through at least 2 meals a day of drive through food. Being as active as I am my intake of Coke over water was extremely unhealthy. I noticed at practices that I was slow, uncoordinated, and dehydrated. I'm too competitive to only play at 70% so I left most of my practices defeated and unsatisfied. Since I've quite drinking soda I've felt a million times better. I must say though, I've cheated twice but only with Sprite to ensure I'm not receiving any caffeine. My biggest problem was the headache I received after 2 days without soda. Caffeine headaches are killer, not to mention my intake of sugars dropped drastically so I drank lemonade, orange juice, and cranberry juice to counter act the pain. It dulled but barely.

My lack of fast food has been nice. I'm eating at home more so in turn I'm saving more money, I haven't felt sick or bloated, my grease intake is minimal, and I feel great. As of recent, Tom and I decided to go out of town for a day which enabled my eating healthier habits. When we decided that we had to eat something fast my only terms were that we ate in'n'out. Of course it's the only delicious burger I crave so it had to be that or nothing. After taking my time to devour my dream patty I felt fine, nostalgic, but fine. The next night after attending practice we didn't have much time to find a restaurant open after 10 and I wasn't feeling up to cooking anything (mainly because we haven't been shopping in a week or two so our choices are very slim) so we chose Taco Bell. Such blasphemy. Breaking my no fast food rule twice in one week. After eating 2 tacos I felt like complete shit. My stomach was in knots and yet today I still feel like crap. It's amazing the way eating can change your every day life. All I can say is that a home made pb&j beats fast food any day.

Baking!

I've never been the best at baking. I always leave the project in too long/little and I always put the frosting on too soon. In an attempt to be crafty I tried using one of these Cake Pop Makers by Babycakes. Unfortunately as I stated before I always find a way to mess things up. First and foremost I should let you know that the babycakes machine is basically a waffle maker for doughnut holes. The instructions weren't very helpful at all. They didn't emphasize how much batter to put in the individual slots nor does it really tell you how long to leave them in for.

So, what do I do? I wing it, because that's what I do best.

So after figuring out that I had way too much batter I decided to make cupcakes as well. My biggest problem was the fact that my cake balls turned out to be more of cake ufo's. On to the next problem, the sticks I bought weren't staying in the cake balls while I dunked them into my watery frosting. I had to cool and warm up my frosting a good 5 or 6 times trying to get the right consistency which I never really found.

My final consensus, give up baking, I'll never be good at it!
